The Tour

Baltic Sea Cycle Path Lübeck-Stralsund - Stralsund

On this section of the Baltic Sea Cycle Path, you’ll visit the Hanseatic cities of Lübeck, Wismar, Rostock and Stralsund. You’ll experience untouched nature on the Fischland, Darß and Zingst peninsula, see beautiful villages with lots of Brick Gothic architecture and dig your toes into the finest white sandy beaches. The bike paths are good and the local cuisine is excellent. The beers you’ll taste in the evenings from one of the numerous local breweries will be well deserved. This tour on the Baltic Sea Cycle Path is also suitable for inexperienced cyclists.

Baltic Sea Cycle Path Lübeck-Stralsund - Darß

Day 1 Arrival in Lübeck
Explore the old Hanseatic city, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and known for marzipan and the Holsten Gate.

Day 2 Lübeck - Boltenhagen region, 35-45 km / 25-28 mi + boat trip
Follow the river Trave to the sea. Here, the ferry will take you to the Priwall peninsula. You’ll keep cycling along the coast and through the nature reserve Brooker Wald to Mecklenburg's second oldest seaside resort. If you’re lucky, there might be a pottery or flea market happening.

Day 3 Boltenhagen region - Wismar, 30-45 km / 19-28 mi
You’ll cycle along the sea to the venerable Hanseatic city of Wismar, which is characterised by Brick Gothic architecture. How about a smoked fish straight from the fishing boat?

Day 4 Wismar - Bad Doberan region, 45-65 km / 28-40 mi
In this landscape, cliffs and beaches alternate and wild sand thorn grows. You’ll continue to the “ghost forest” with its atmospheric gnarled trees. The Molli Railway is in operation, ferrying holidaymakers to the beach.

Day 5 Bad Doberan region - Ahrenshoop region, 30-60 km / 19-37 mi + boat trip
From the white sandy beach in Warnemünde you’ll have a good view of the distinctive “Teepot” (tea pot) building and the cruise ships. Take a detour to Rostock before heading to Fischland with the famous artists' village of Ahrenshoop.

Day 6 Ahrenshoop region - Barth region, 30-60 km / 19-37 mi
Today, you’ll have time to explore the National Park Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft. Enjoy the beaches, explore the Darß Primeval Forest or stop for a cake at the café and restaurant Walfischhaus.

Day 7 Barth region - Stralsund, 45-60 km / 28-37 mi + boat trip
The three towers of the Hanseatic city of Stralsund greet you from afar. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and located on the strait across from the island of Rügen. The historic centre with the town hall, the Wulflamhaus, the old market and the town gates is a great attraction.
