Cycle tour Müritz & Lake Plauer See

The best way to experience the Mecklenburg Lake District is probably with this cycle tour along Müritz and Lake Plauer See. Dense forests and a multitude of lakes provide habitats for rare plants and animals, and the villages and small towns are beautifully restored. Day 1 Arrival in Waren (Müritz)/Klink
Waren is the tourist and economic centre of the Mecklenburg Lake District with a very beautiful old town and the exciting Müritzeum.

Day 2 Waren (Müritz)/Klink - Neustrelitz, 55 km / 34 mi
The first tour leads through the Müritz National Park, forested and with countless small lakes. White-tailed eagles and ospreys can be seen as well as numerous butterfly species. Baroque Neustrelitz was a ducal residence.

Day 3 Neustrelitz - Wesenberger Seenkreuz, 55 km / 34 mi
Today the tour takes you through a rich lake landscape in which the Havel also finds its way. Wesenberg offers the typical large market square and a tower hill castle.

Day 4 Wesenberg Seenkreuz - Röbel region, 45-58 km / 28-36 mi
First you cycle to Mirow with its pretty castle on an island, then you reach the Müritz again at Röbel. The windmill on the castle hill is visible from afar.

Day 5 Röbel region - Plau am See, 40 km / 25 mi
Through woods and meadows you reach Lake Plauer See. In Stuer you will find the bear forest, where brown bears can live in forest enclosures in a species-appropriate way. Plau is a charming little town with many listed buildings.

Day 6 Plau am See - Waren (Müritz)/Klink, 61 km / 38 mi
Cycling along the lake you reach the island town of Malchow with its monastery, windmill and swing bridge. You then cycle through the "Land Fleesensee" back to Waren.

Day 7 Return or Extension
